Cookies Policy
Last updated: 28 October 2026
This page lists every cookie this website can set, by name. Nothing here is optional reading dressed up as transparency — if a cookie is not on this list, we are not setting it.
The short version
Two small values are stored so the site can remember your own choices. Nothing else is stored until you accept analytics cookies, and if you reject them, nothing analytical ever loads. Rejecting is one click, in the same place and the same size as accepting.
Strictly necessary
These make the site work as you asked it to. They carry no personal data, are never shared, and cannot be switched off — refusing them would mean asking you the same question on every page.
| Name | Set by | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
nairooConsent |
Nairoo | Remembers which cookies you accepted or rejected, so you are not asked on every page. | 12 months |
nairooLang |
Nairoo | Remembers that you dismissed the suggestion to switch language, so it is not shown again. | 12 months |
These two are kept in your browser's local storage rather than as classic cookies. The effect is the same for you, so we list them here instead of hiding behind the distinction.
Analytics — only if you accept
We use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to count visits and see which pages get read. It tells us whether the writing is working. It does not tell us who you are.
These load only after you accept. Until then the tags are blocked using Google's consent mode, which means no analytics cookie is written and no data is sent.
| Name | Set by | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Distinguishes one visitor from another so visits can be counted. | 2 years | |
_ga_ |
Keeps the state of your session in Google Analytics 4. | 2 years |
Google acts as our processor for this and may process the data outside the European Economic Area under the safeguards described in the Privacy Policy.
Advertising — only if you accept
Separately from analytics, and behind its own switch, we use the Meta pixel to see whether our advertising on Facebook and Instagram actually brings anyone here, and to reach people whose work resembles yours. Accepting analytics does not accept this, and the reverse is also true — they are two different questions and the banner asks them separately.
| Name | Set by | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
_fbp |
Meta | Identifies this browser to Meta so a visit can be linked to an advertising audience. | 90 days |
_fbc |
Meta | Only written if you arrived from a Facebook or Instagram ad. Stores that ad's click identifier. | 90 days |
_gcl_au |
Attributes a visit to an ad. Only appears once advertising measurement is switched on. | 90 days |
This is the only part of the site that shares anything with a company whose business is advertising. If that is not something you want, reject it — the site behaves identically and we would rather you stayed.
Meta acts as a joint controller with us for part of this processing. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
What we do not use
No session recording, heatmaps or mouse tracking. No fingerprinting. No cookie walls: refusing everything gives you the entire site, unchanged, with no nagging.
Changing your mind
Your choice is remembered for twelve months and you can change it whenever you like.
You can also clear cookies and site data from your browser's settings, which resets everything including your stored choice.
The app
The Nairoo mobile app is not a browser and sets no cookies. What it does collect is described in the Privacy Policy.
